Alpha
Alpha describes the primary super-dimensional substance that Hybolians utilize. Alpha is considered one of the most important components of the Universe of Niag; it is described as "If Space were a fabric, then Alpha would be its thread." It can also be described as "Alpha Matter" or "Alpha Mana." Natural Alpha cannot be detected within the observable Universe.
Alpha Magi
Refers to Alpha that has been processed to assume an observable, manipulable state by turning it into a unique chemical Element. See: Hybolian Chemistry
Alpha Magick
It is the practice, or skill, of utilizing Alpha for the purposes of combat. Alpha Magick itself is therefore not a type/alternate form of Alpha.
Astatize
When someone Astatizes, they turn into an Astatos, an essentially corrupt state of being where the person's very existence no longer becomes fully comprehensible. Astatos are "Glitches in the Matrix," as they are mind-bending abnormalities at the very heart of their definition. There are many different ways of Astatizing, with some forms Astatos being easier to achieve than others. The effects of becoming an Astatos very greatly, but it can never be properly reversed. The effects of Astatizing are almost always highly negative for their person; the Astatized subject may completely lose their sanity or become a life-form with warped or self-torturous qualities. The only way to end these changes is if Deondavra (And Deondavra alone) salvages the victim's Soul. This salvaging effectively kills the victim by revoking all traces of who that Astatos was as a person; Astatos, however, may retain enough sanity to recognize their existence as an Astatos and both they or anyone that loves the Astatos may as a result not want them to be killed. On the other hand, most Astatos pose the threat of Astatizing those around them, not because they can intentionally Astatize them, but because simply existing near non Astatos-resistant targets runs this possibility. This results in adverse effects that can be very similar to the original Astatos.
Demiline
Demilines can be considered to be the equivalent of normal people or animals. Refers to the "conventional" form of life Deondavra created, and it involves the individual having both a body and a Soul.
Filler Setting
A personally coined writing term, not an in-lore term. Filler setting refers to setting that is implied to exist, but has not been formally shown to the reader. An easy example of Filler setting is if the story refers to a city. By establishing that there is a city, you imply to exist things such as houses, buildings, a fire department, a police force, etc. Everything that can be inferred to exist, when actual setting is established, is Filler Setting. Unlike regular setting, Filler Setting is easy to create. For example, if I say a planet exists and that planet is inhabited by billions of humans, I have just implied a massive amount of things; towns, cities, countries--and all the little bells and whistles within them such as those fire-departments a police forces I mentioned. All of those things, yet I only actually told you two things that easily filled half a sentence. Filler setting however does not have to be the actual case; You may assume that there is a fire department or police force in my city, but I may eventually reveal that there are no such things and that this city functions a fundamentally different system rather than through police forces or fire departments. Therefore, Filler setting is setting that has not been proven and is subject to getting disproved later down the line. But until the writer makes it doubtful that a conventional/logical system doesn't exist, the reader has the right to assume that these things exist.
Law of Stability
A fundamental rule of thumb, based on actual Chemistry and Physics, where the more stable something is, the harder it is to modify that object or force it to assume a less stable state. Much like how a pendulum swings back into rest after it has been pushed, when something is unstable, it reverts back to its original, more stable state once no more force is being exerted. And when more force is used to push an unwilling object, the more counterforce the object exerts against that force in order to return it to its original state, up to a certain point. The Law of Stability is what gives Hybolians an immense resistance to most, but not all, forms of outside altering magic and chemistry. Because Alpha's most stable state is by being a direct part of the fabric of space, it will immediately cease to exist once no more force is being exerted upon it.
Middle-Age Hybolian
If a character is considered a Middle-Aged Hybolian, it means that they were born as a mortal or Demiline in Niag, but later ascended to become a Hybolian. Middle-Age Hybolians differ from Modern-Age Hybolians in that they became Hybolians through a different method: Through pilgrimage to the Realm of Origin, as opposed through artificial, more magical manipulation. Because the Realm of Origin is no longer accessible, it is no longer possible to create Middle-Age Hybolians. Moreover, the artificial method to induce Hybolianization didn't exist during the time where this was still available. Therefore, the "Age" implied by Middle and Modern Age Hybolians accurately reflects the different time periods to which the Hybolians were created. There's no physical difference between any kind of Hybolian; the specification only strictly refers to the time and circumstance in which the Hybolians were created.
Modern-Age Hybolian
If a character is a Modern-Age Hybolian, it means, relatively speaking, that the Hybolian was created recently. Every Hybolian created after the fall of the Realm of Origin is considered a Modern Hybolian, as the means to create Hybolians was forcefully changed after it became no longer accessible. Modern-Age Hybolians are created through a much more technical method than Middle-Age Hybolians. There's no physical difference between any kind of Hybolian; the specification only strictly refers to the time and circumstance in which the Hybolians were created.
Prestigious Weapons
Can specifically refer to the weapons the Amulets or Ace, Duke and Kris carry, but also more accurately refers to a special class of weapons carried throughout. Prestigious Weapons are weapons that have had Soul-Genes artificially implanted into them in order to give them supernatural properties in combat. These can include being indestructible or being unnaturally resilient or sharp, to more magical abilities such as granting the user special powers or to temporarily make the user physically superhuman.
Primeval Hybolian
The rarest version of Hybolian on behalf of also being the oldest. If a Hybolian is Primeval, it means that they were Hybolians from the very beginning. They had never ventured upon the face of Niag as mortal beings and were born within the Realm of Origin. This differentiates them from all over types of Hybolians in that they were never born on Niag. Many Primeval Hybolians were around during the beginning of Relevant History and were also around to see the first Middle-Age Hybolians being created. Though it is technically possible for a Middle-Age Hybolian to outdate a primeval, as contrast the only difference between them is where they happened to be born, no known examples of this exist. There's no physical difference between any kind of Hybolian; the specification only strictly refers to the time and circumstance in which the Hybolians were created.
Relevant History
As how it is frequently used suggests, the beginning of Relevant History marks the beginning of almost all important historical time periods within Timelord.odt. Specially, the Beginning of Relevant History is said to have begun the moment Zeus discovered Niag. The term "Relevant History" is a term actually used by certain characters such as Deondavra and Ckronos in the story to refer to that event. This is because to them, although the beginning of time did in fact occur far before this point, it is, as again the name suggests, not relevant or worth remembering. However, for the purposes of the reader, the few years before this are technically relevant, since they could be studied to describe how Zeus managed to discover Niag to begin with. Nevertheless, that is the full extent of how far I am willing to go back in time for the purposes of Timelord.odt's lore.
Sub-death
Generally refers to one of the quirks of Mary's Transformation. Mary is subject to dying just like any other Hybolian, but her Transformation effectively prevents her from dying no matter how much damage she takes. When a Transformed has Mary has taken enough damage to die, she is considered to be in a state of "Sub-death," due to the fact that although her injuries aren't fatal now, she will eventually be forced to succumb to them due to her Transformation being finite in duration. Therefore she must avoid this situation or figure out a solution during the burrowed time that she has.
Spirit Class
Spirit Classes, as a term, refers to one of several different ways a human, or any other life form, can exist within the Universe. It is effectively the various "models" Life can exist by. For example, Demiline are life forms that exist through the use of a body and a soul, and Hybolians are life forms that exist by having a supernatural body and without a distinguishable soul. Every life form falls under one of the Spirit Classes. "Mortal" and "Immortal," are not Spirit Classes because they define specific qualities of one's life, not the "model" that life operates under. Comparing one Spirit Class to another is analogous to comparing a diesel motor to an electric motor--they both accomplish the same thing but utilize different methods to achieve it. But in the case of Spirit Classes, they all strive to create a baseline definition of what it means to be alive. All Spirit Classes besides the Hybolian are Artificial. The Demiline are the Spirit Class that is generally referred to when talking about normal, everyday people and animals. Other Spirit Classes include the Drollmeta and the Astatos, the latter of which can also be considered an "Other" category; This means life forms under it can simply defined as one that does not operate underneath the orders or Hybolian, Demiline, or Drollmeta.
Trollskap
Trollskap is, by technical definition, another word for Magic systems, particularly within the context of Hard Magic Systems. In other words, each Trollskap is effectively its own independent way of magic, with its own unique rules towards how its used that never possesses the need to follow any rules set by another Trollskap. The main difference between Magic Systems and Trollskaps is that Magic Systems typically define the magic described within a single franchise, while Trollskaps are defining multiple instances of distinct Magic within Timelord.odt that cannot be directly compared with each other. However, all Trollskaps obey certain overarching rules set by the physics and lore within Timelord.odt.
