Biological Genes act as blueprints; Though they're complex structures of DNA made through certain chemical elements, Genes are effectively read and used by cells in order to create a functional body. They're blueprints used by nature in order to build life forms. In contrast, Soul-Genes are also blueprints. However, they're effectively "As-Built" Blueprints. Blueprints meant to lay out and document how a structure was built and how it currently exists. A person's Soul-Gene is a comprehensive record of their being down to even the very smallest of details. Furthermore, the Soul-Gene constantly updates with any changes made to its target's body. For example, if you break your nose, your Soul-Gene will update to indicate that you have in fact broken your nose. And when your nose heals, the Soul-Gene will again update. However, the Soul-Gene's purpose goes well beyond simple documentation; If the Universe were but a simulation run on a computer, Soul-Genes would be the data files stored away on that computer's hard drive. The computer, or universe, uses those files in order to physically keep track of your existence. Similarly, a computer also has to read those files in order to be able to render you within the simulator. If you cannot be rendered, you don't exist. It's the same with the actual Universe and Soul-Gene.
